My car keeps cuttiing off every time I stop at a red light. The RPM drops to 0 and the car cuts off. Before it cuts off it will start jerking for a while then it cuts off. I have to turn the egine off and restart the car. It starts up again without a problem. Do I need to replace the fuel pump? I asked a mechanic and he said the gas is not being pumped so I need to change the fuel pump.

THat doesn't sound right to me. THe fuel pump needs to provide more fuel under a load. When you stop, less fuel is needed, so that is the opposite of what he is saying. HAs the check engine light come on? Also, here is a how to for checking fuel pump pressure. You can do it yourself. I recommend doing it and letting me know what you find.
