1997 Ford Explorer Repair Question

Door and tailgate striker bolt bushings
Interior problem
1997 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 100000 miles
All the plastic bushings on the striker bolts have disintegrated. Can I replace just the bushings or do I need to replace the complete striker units? In removing the striker unit either to replace the bushing or substitute the complete unit is there a danger that the retaining nut will slip out of place?

Yes, it could slip. I would recommend getting the entire unit from a salvage yard. If there is a "U-Pull it" yard near you, try to remove one and see if the bolt falls.
