1996 Ford Explorer Noise

I replaced the rear brake pads and now when braking, there is a loud click, click when the pads are engaged...looked at the caliper and things look normal...nothing loose...suggestions on cause of noise..

OK was this noise there before replacing the pads? What all did you replace? Did you turn the rotors or replace them? Did you replace any hardware? Get back to so I can try to help you figure this out. Thanks

noise was not there before I replaced the pads, I also replaced the rotors, no other hardware was replaced, only pads and rotors...

number of clicks is dependant upon speed of rotation of wheel...ie, clicking slows as car comes to a stop...clicking only happens when braking and pads are engaged

OK so have you checked to see if the pads are moving? Have some one step on the brakes and see if you can move the tire any in either direction. Did you use brake quite on the metal side of the brake pads?
