1994 Ford Explorer a/c cycles

just bought 94 explorer , tried to charge a/c it took half a can until it said it was full a/c compressor cycles it does not stay on just cycles every 3 seconds air is not cold coming out of vents what could be wrong?

Hello,

Are you using a can that came with a gauge or did you already have a single gauge.

When it showed full were you still filling the system? If so reattach and close the valve down, the valve used to puncture can and see what it reads.

already had a guage , neighbor mechanic already had , and a can of 134a, read gauge while filling then took it of put it back on and checked it again

And it read full?

Does the gauge appear to be accurate?

Check the Cycling Switch. Disconnect harness and jump the terminals, if the compressure kicks in and stays replace switch.
