I have a 2004 Ford Eddie Bauer Edition Expedition and for some reason when I 1st start the car, I have no problems. But after 5 or 10 min, after stopping at a red light or something, I hear and feel a loud thud noise when I press the accelerator. The more I drive the louder and harder the thud gets each time I press the accelerator after stopping. If I turn the car off for a little while, the sounds stops for 10 min give or take. It feels like it is coming from the rear. Took it to 1 mechanic and they heard it but could not find it. Recommended me to another shop but looked like there only concern was money without finding out what the problem was 1st. Does anyone know what it could be and if it is expensive to fix?

Did they check to make sure the exhaust isn't hitting the frame. Did they check motor and trans mounts? If a mount is broken, it may be causing enough of a twist on the drive line to cause u-joint noise, or the exhaust to hit the frame. Also, the exhaust is held on by rubber straps. Make sure none of them are broken alowing movement.
