Starting Failed

1991 Ford Escort "Pony" 122K Miles 4L

I Tried to start car, and all dash systems lights came on as normal, but the car didnt start. No clicks, thumping, whirring, no sound at all. When I removed the key all dash lights stayed on, and radio would play when turned on.? I had to disconnect battery to turn them off. Is there a connection between these two systems?

I had a similar problem on my '88 F-250. Had me puzzled for over a week. Went to a good friend who owns a repair shop, and he checked my battery. He said the amps were to high, or to low. (It's been a while since this happened) I replaced the battery, and the problem was fixed. Good Luck and I hope this helps you.
