94 Ford Escort that was running hot and when going up a hill it started to knock lose power and then died. Water around the water pump on the ground. Did start back up after cooling, took a little bit to start it but it was acting like it was running good, and ran for a mile and died again. Will not start now, will turn over. The oil looks good, no water in it. Just about all the water was gone. The temp guage never did pegged out completely. Did the car jump time or am I just out of luck. It has the 1.9l in it. Thanks

If the oil and coolant are both gone I would think you have a blown engine.

Did it overheat bad, with steam coming out of the engine? You probably have a bad water pump or a bad leak near it. If it did overheat bad you might have a bad head gasket. As far as starting it, make sure the coolant is filled and check for spark and fuel to the engine. Are you doing the troubleshooting yourself? If not have a reliable mechanic look at it to find out what it needs.

No it never had water coming out around the head. It look like it was coming out around the water pump. I never saw any steam anywhere. I am troubleshooting it myself. I don't think it overheated bad, it was hotter than normal, never pegged the guage

I'd change the water pump, thermostat, hoses flush the system, check the coolant sensor. As far as it not starting, check for fuel getting to the injectors, spark, compression test. If that's OK you might want to get it scanned for trouble codes.
