2000 ford escort ZX2. drivetrain
My escort zx2 has an automatic transmission and when i shift it to drive or overdrive it wont catch and just revs up like its in neutral. the only way i can get it to go is if i start in LOW then after obtaining 20 MPH i can shift to drive, Play with the accelerator and then it will catch and run fine. until i stop again, then i must repeat the process HELP!!! thanks

Automatics are complicated. Not too many user serviceable items. Try the correct fluid level and maybe new fluid and filter. You could also check the shift linkage. If not see a pro.
