2000 Ford Escort Won't start

I drove through snow on wednesday and on friday the car would not start. It had begun ot "growl" in forst and second gear after wednesday but started and ran fine until friday. I suspect there may be water in it? What do I need to do?

You need to start by checking for fuel pressure and spark. If it turns over (cranks) and sounds normal but wont start, then the timing belt is probably ok, we need to see what it is missing
