2000 Ford Escort 135000 miles

My car has a hard time getting out of gear first thing in the morning. Here's what I do. I get up in the morning get myself 2gether I go out warm the car up for bout 20-30min then I get in put mt foot on the brake unleash the emergency brakes and then try to take my car out of park and the gear is stuck (my gear is in the middle right there behind 2cup holders in the front) So I have to press down on brake then press in this button or knob and at the same time I'm doin that pull gear down to d (drive) I have to set there and play wit it b4 it goes into gear. I took it to the shop told them bout it they dont see the problem I also had a tramission flush at that time too this was 3 weeks ago. The car been doin this since end of Feb. I do notice when I keep pressing on the brake like as if I'm pumping them then I stop and do it again then stop then I hear this click like somthing stuck and then my car goes out of park and I can put it into drive and my car does that if its been sitting for couple hours but in between if I'm out and bout back and forth out the car here and there it doesnt do that only when the car been sitting for few hours. Can u please tell me whats goin on I want to solve this problem so bad I dont know and I dont think brakes has anything to do with the gear but u never know. Can u solve this for me?

When you step on the brakes does the brake lights work
if not it will not shift out of gear due to a faulty brake light switch
if the due
check and replace shifter interlock solenoid
