My car recently started making this odd knocking type sound whenever im parked and hit the gas to speed up. It sounds as if its coming from underneath the drivers side. Any idea what it could be? And is it safe to drive til I can get it to the mechanics. Oh, and it also makes a knocking sound when I shift to drive. I dont know what that could be either.

thanks!

If the sound is coming from under the vehicle then one of these are most likely the reason. If you change the oil yourself then just double check to make sure you put the correct oil in.

Well I just recently got the oil changed. And as far as I know it was the right oil. If the carrier bearing is bad, what kind of damage can that cause?

Well, the carrier bearing holds the drive shaft in place. You should probably get it checked out soon without driving it too much.
