Hi:
I need to know the correct year, and if it's fuel injected or if it has a carb.

Let me know.

Ok, now I'm really confused. They didn't start making the ford escort until the 80's, 1981 if I recall correctly. Is this an Escort or something other?

Sorry mate, where the engine is in my kit car I was not 100% sure so I asked the last owner and he said it's one of the first escort ever made. So for the year you must of been right saying it must of been around 1980.

Cheers

Hi:
If it dies when you hit the gas quick, it sounds like the accelerator pump may be bad. With the engine off, remove the air filter assembly and while looking down the carb throat, quickly open the throttle. When you open it fully you should see a spray of gas shoot into the carb.

Let me know what you find.
