Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Ford Escape 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi 2procars:
In last few weeks, my ford escape is losing engine power. I did change spark plugs, 2 ignition coils. No results. And looks like cables for cylinder 3 and 6 do not have electric. Is it catalytic converter?
My ford has now 140000 miles

Yes, check engine is on with sometime blinking.
My ford is now in my yard. No power for going to mechanic for code riding. Still, sound is rough. When I am taking of cables for coils #4 and 6 no changing in sound. When I am taking of cable for #5 cylinder engine sound is changing to more rough.

Check engine light on and blinking is an indication of a misfire
have to check for codes an OBDII reader would be very helpful in your case

with out the codes try and do this test
start engine and check if coil s firing at all cylinders

With key on engine off or running
unplug the suspected coil and check for battery power at WHT/VIO wire
should have power if not check for short between coil and wiring harness
if power OK
start engine and check for pulse ground on the other wire
if none
check for short between coil and PCM best if use an ohm meter
coil #6 is pin #53 on the PCM (Lt Grn/yel)
coil #4 is pin #1 on the PCM (wht/pnk)
