Hello, my name is miguel. I recently purchased a dial indicator to measure the presice play on the ball joints from a ford E-150. The problem is I dont know how to set it up or how to read the gage. I'm sure that you guys can help me with this. I also wanted to know; what is the measurement that the dial indicator should read when the ball joints are good and when they are bad?

You will need a base for the indicator. Mount it on lower control arm with plunger on indicator on the spindle. Pry the spindle up away from the lower arm to measure the deflection. Should be.040 inch for lowe and.024 for the upper
