1998 Ford Contour Speedometer

The speedometer in my 98 Contour SVT quit randomly. I checked all wires and they seem to be fine. Also, the gas gauge seized to work. The tach still works. What could be the problem here?

If speedo and fuel gauge quit at same time than most likely the cluster assembly is bad, you can remove cluster and inspect soldering on back first to ensure no solder spots have burnt into. If they have you can just resolder it.
