Air Conditioning problem
1996 Ford Contour 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 152000 miles
I have a 96 Ford Contour with an A/C problem. When you first start the car and turn A/C on the compressor engages and it works normal putting out 39 deg. air and it will continue to work (engine at normal operating temp.) until you turn it off. Then when you try to turn on again the compressor will not engage and will not until car has set for a period of time.

Hi Suspect weak coil in A/C clutch when it heats up looses magnetic field and can't pull shoe in. When not working check for voltage at A/C clutch coil. if present the clutch is faulty.
