88 Bronco II stalls and runs rough

I have a 1988 Bronco II with 173,000 miles. Recently it started running rough and then stalling. If I let it go for a few hours or more, it starts but still runs rough. One day last week I got it to run for about an hour on some small errands but it died on me about a block from home. I replaced the ignition control module and a vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator. I also checked that all plug wires were connected tight. What else should I do? These trucks have 2 fuel pumps - 1 in-tank and 1 in-line. The in-line is the high-pressure pump. Do you think this is a fuel pump problem? What else could it be?

Are you sure it has 2 pumps my 1990, and 1991 only have one and I have the 2.9L and the 4.0L so I can't see them changing that on the Bronco II

I think they went to a single in-tank high pressure pump in the early 90's, because my '88 has two, and my '91 only has one. They both have the 4.9L and the 5.0L, respectively.

Have you been able to test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail? That should give you an indication of whether or not your fuel pumps are causing the problem you describe. Good luck.
