My daughter's car lost a belt. This car does not have power streering or a/c.

I replaced the belt, and once you drove, it would squeel at a high pitch, and then stop, and it seem to run fine.

It was taken on the highway, squeeling all the way - and belt gone!

At idle, it ran very smoothly, and the belt looked like it was aligned perfectly.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi there,

It sounds like an adjustment problem, If the belt is aligned correctly, adj so there is about 2-3mm deflection and test drive, If it squeals stop and check to see if it is about to let go, There will be a simple answer to this.
