1993 Ford Aerostar Starting up the van.

When I try to start up the van now, I hear a heavy metallic clicking sound, and the van will not turn over or start up. Is this due to a faulty starter? Maybe ingnition switch?

If the starter is working, it sounds like perhaps the solenoid isn't engaging and it is grinding on the flywheel. If that is what seems to be happening, replace the starter.
