The passenger's seat belt flashes while it's unoccupied, and it turns off when I buckle it.

Hi,

If it is flashing, the occupant seat sensor thinks someone is sitting on the seat with the seat belt disconnected. The sensor can be an issue, the module can be an issue, and so on. However, in most cases, it is a sensor-related cause.

I recommend scanning the can-bus to confirm the cause. Otherwise, it will become a guessing game and replacing parts until the correct one is found.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

I attached pics below showing the sensor locations. Let me know if the scan is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

Joe
