Firing problem

When I start my car it is firing is just like a tractor and there is a knocking. What should I do?

Good morning.

I would not drive it until you find the source of the noise. You may be doing more damage to the engine by driving it.

I would have it towed to a shop and have them check the noise to see if it is an internal engine noise. It could be valve train related, or bearing related. Both may be caused by oil pressure being too low from a possible failed oil pump.

Error on the side of caution and have it checked to be sure.
