ESP message?

I installed the air suspension bypass unit cause the air struts were all replaced with regular struts and there was a message about the suspicion malfunction. It worked. But I still have an ESP message and the codes are in there. The car starts every time, but it struggles first then starts. Is it possible that can be a cause? Once I start it I delete the messages and they go away, then 10 seconds later they pop right back.

Hi,

For some reason, I'm not showing an E500. The only thing I have listed is an E550.

As far as the codes are indicating, there is no signal from the ADS module which makes sense because the air ride was removed. I can't look up either of the codes because of the model difference. I'm not sure if you are located in the US or not. If you aren't, let me know if there is a model in the US that is similar. Also, recheck the bypass module to make sure it is functional and properly connected.

Take care,

Joe

It is an e550 but you don't have that option in your menu. I am in the US. And sure the bypass is working because the suspension malfunction message is gone.

Hi,

Have you tried to reset the steering angle sensor? If not, start the vehicle and turn the steering all the way to the right and then all the way to the left. Center the wheel and clear the code to see if it stays off.

Let me know.

Oh, yes, did that many times. I even tried with the xentry das laptop but it says sas is defective not sure if the diagnosis as easy as that. But the horn, and all buttons on the steering work, I just don't want to replace it and find out its not it.

I totally understand. Also, I wish it was that simple. LOL However, I have a feeling this time, it may be.

As far as the SAS, the code you have indicates there is no CAN signal from the steering angle sensor sent via control unit N80 received. In most cases, the steering wheel control module is the issue.

I attached the information below from the manual. Take a look at it and let me know your thoughts. Based on what I'm reading, the module is the only possibility.

Take care,

Joe

So, there is a module and the SAS? Where is this module located and does it need coding if replacing it with a used one?

Hi,

Only the N80 steering column module. The SAS communicates via this module. See pic below for the location.
