What causes my car to run hot and cut off and the A/C to cut off while driving?

Could be the radiator and a.C. Condensor fans not operating correctly with the a.C. On do the radiator/a.C. Fans come on at some point?Also if the check engine light is on with the engine running have you scanned it for codes?
