Hi,

I would be happy to help. However, to get the correct information for you, I need to know the 8th digit of the VIN number. The identifies the engine. My manuals are showing me two different ones. See pic below.

Let me know which you have, and I'll get you what is needed.

Take care,

Joe

Both the Windsor and the Romeo have the same harness that year so wouldn't matter they didn't change until 99 when the knock sensors were different between the two. I asked a more relevant follow up question, I was trying to find out if the 98 has a resonant or non resonant knock sensor, I am replacing the 98 npi engine with a 03 pi and the knock sensors are different so before I tap and drill the block to accept the 98 (much more expensive) knock sensor I am trying to determine what type the 98 is, I know the 03 is a non resonant (full frequency) but strongly suspect the 98 is a resonant meaning if I wire the non resonant into the resonant wiring the computer will likely read all noise as knock and retard the timing to the point of inoperable.

Hi,

If you look below, I attached the wiring schematic for the entire powertrain management system. Let me know if that helps. Note: The schematic was four pages long. I had to cut each page in half to make them readable. I did overlap them for you.

As far as the knock sensor, I'm not sure what to tell you. There is nothing indicating that information in the two manuals I use. If the part numbers will help, let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you, seeing that the 98's 2nd wire that is not the signal goes to a common tells me that it is a resonant knock sensor which only responds to certain frequencies while the 03 has a non resonant knock sensor that reads a large spectrum of frequencies and they are therefore non interchangeable.
