I pulled a plug wire and inserted a plug tried cracking. No spark. No power to fuel pump either. Prior to this the car alarm would go off for no reason. It would take a battery reset to shit it down. Sometimes, it wouldn't start right away. We had to disconnect battery and reconnect to get it started. Any ideas? Please help is possible.
Thank you.

Hi,

More than likely your alarm system is preventing the spark and fuel. I suspect what is happening based on the history is the vehicle thinks it is being stolen so it has shut itself down. More than likely at this point just a "reprogram" to the pneumatic system will get this back up and running. The issue is, that has to be done with the proper scan tool that dealers and some independent shops have.

I would suggest calling around and seeing if any local shops will bring the tool out and do it where the vehicle is. Some will do this and it can't hurt in asking.

Let me know if you need more information and we can go from there.

Thanks for the information. I changed the battery. I took it to a store for testing they charged it and it tested good. It sat overnight, when I installed it the next day it was down to 9.1v. Now with new battery it cranks, still no spark. I do have fuel pressure. Still no crank.

Okay. This could be a few things. Here is a guide that walks through the most common causes.

I would suggest with starting by seeing if there are any codes in the computer. This will cut down on a lot of basic testing and at least point us to why you don't have spark.

Let me know and we can go to the next step. Thanks

Thanks for your quick response and assistance. There are no codes in the computer. I even changed crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Still no help. It seems to have fuel at the nozzle up front. No spark. The alarm still goes off intermittently. I was hoping it was alarm related. I'm almost at the end of my rope. Lol
I believe it's got to be something simple.

Okay. Unfortunately with this being a Mercedes, it may need to have a scan tool hooked to it in order to monitor or communicate with the modules to see if they have been disabled due to the alarm system. MB is well known for not giving much detail when the security system is the issue. Basically, the engineering teams in Germany never thought about the "do it yourself-er" when designing these vehicles. They expected their clientele to have this work done by a dealer so the scan tool for MB should tell more about what is happening.

At this point, the fact that the alarm goes off and you have no spark, the alarm system is the main culprit and I would not recommend going much further until we can eliminate that because no matter what part you put on it, it won't work if the security system has shut it out.

Here is a guide that goes through the basics. Scroll down to the specific OEM's because MB is there however, I am not sure this will cure all alarm issues but it is worth a try. After that, we may need to consult a dealer or someone with the scan tool to dig further into this.
