Okay, so I lost my car key a couple days ago and tonight I noticed that my drivers door lock was blinking bright red. My car hasn't obviously been started or moved since I lost my key (still lost) and it has never blinked red like that before! Please help!

Hi, My name is Dan.

Generally in VW cars when the indicator on the driver's door blinks, it means the car is locked and the perimeter alarm is set and armed. usually when you lock the doors with the remote, the LED does not turn on until approximately 4 minutes later, then it blinks to show the alarm is set.

Have you found the key or obtained a replacement? If not then that is where we are going to have to start. If you unlock the vehicle using a metal key in the door, the system should disarm and you will be fine.

Here is a guide that will help with disarming these units that may give good info for you.

I am attaching info below that will help with this. Please run through this material and let me know what you find with this and we can go from there.
