My vans speedometer stopped working, slong with the odometer. also at the same time the abs light came on the break red idiot light came on and the check engine light came on. it starts and drives ok and stops ok. computer check said that it needed a new speed sensor on the transmission. I replaced it but nothing changed.
what else could the problem be?
thanks

3 things, 1. The sensor sometimes has problems with a plastic gear the output shaft drives. Wears.
2. The wiring from the sensor to the harness could have a problem.
3. the PCM may need to be reset. if you have an internal problem the PCM may not be working(rare). Disconnect battery. May help.
It is 50/50 on one and two. I have replaced hundreds. ok

After the power center recieves power, most circuits are fused. There is a splice that sends grounds and reference voltage also. From this splice the wiring goes to a connector that runs down the floorOutside) and is sent to the transmission and rear end fuel system. So a 8 or 10 way connector was what was wrong with the fellow with a truck, or van last week. He found no continuity through that connector, pulled it apart, and it worked again after he plugged it in. A trouble spot. So first be sure the connector on the sensor has voltage, ground, ref. so it can work. After the fuses are found to be ok using a voltage tester or voltmeter set to 0-10 or 0-50 volts DC. The power center is where all the circuit fuses are. Under the hood.
