Won't start when facing uphill

1997 Dodge RAM 1500 5.2 L V8 80,000 miles:
My truck won't start when facing uphill -slight incline. However, it starts just fine when facing downhill - slight incline - and it runs just fine after it is started. When facing uphill, the engine turns over fine and it sounds like it is going to start, but doesn't.

Sounds like possible fuel starvation. When attempting to start the truck can you here the pump kick in? If it's not I would start there. Also, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
