I have a 1994 dodge ram van b350, 5.9L/360cu. 4 speed automatic transmission a518, over 100,000 mi. It has a lock up torque converter. My problem is: it will not go in reverse, all the forward gear seem to work but when I put it in reverse it acts like at is trying to put forward but just cant. I removed the shift linkage and put it in gear with the shift rod on the transmission and got the same results. I can go in to the transmission if I have to but I dont want to un less I wave to. Any ideas? Thanks in advanced.

There is one thing you can do or check and that is take off the trans pan and there is a reverse band adjusting screw you will need to back of the lock nut and then tighten the adjuster no more than 70 inch lbs. ( Thats not very tight ) after you done this than you need to back off 2 full turns and then making sure the screw doesn't turn tighten the lock nut. ( Not too tight you don't want to break it). Since your there and fuild drained change filter and pan gaskit. Remember that is INCH LBS. After that there is a adjuster on the out side for foward and its same thing tighten to 72 INCH LBS. But you want to back off 2 and 1/2 full turns. Then tighten lock nut. See if that helps.
