My truck has developed an oil leak when the engine is cold and while I warm it up in the morning. The leak is in the back of the motor according to the small puddle of fluid on the ground under the truck. When I look under the truck there is oil on the transmission bell housing bolts but no where else. I looked later in the day and there is no more drips and there is no residual oil left behind to try and follow the leak back to its origin. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it on the top of the transmission or the bottom? Also, you may want to get a dye from a parts store and add it to the oil. After driving, use a black light to identify where it is leaking from. The dye will glow. Oil leaks can be hard to find sometimes due to wind under the vehicle. The flex-plate/flywheel throwing it around etc. The dye will help locate the source. If it leaks just sitting it may be the rear of the oil pan, depending on how steep your driveway is, it may be causing the rear of the pan to be under oil level.

My Ram did the same thing. I had the oil pan gasket replaced and it took care of the leak. Cost me about $250.00.
