Dear Sirs,
question on my 05 Dodge ram.
I have a front engine noise. Not noticablle at low rpm under load more noticeable.
Could be alternator? Pully? A/c compressor? Waterpump?
idiot gages all look ok, no overheating, volts fine, oil pressure fine.

I just changed the oil on Sunday. Only change made.
No check engine lights at all.
Just started.

Thanks
Lew

Ok so do you have an automotive stethiscope or long screwdriver? What I would do is start the engine and listen for the noise. Now use the stethiscope or screwdrive to listen to the Alt or the tensioner and idler pulley's and such. If you are using a long screwdriver then you simply put the screwdriver on what you want to listen to and the handle end you cup with your hand and put to your ear and listen. Now when you listen to the idler or tensioner pulleys you put the screwdriver or stethiscope on the bolt in the center so you can hear the beaing in it. Let me know what you find.
