When I start my truck, the engine races up to about 2000-2200 rpm and then settles down to about 1000 rpm. When idling, it will fluctuate from the normal 700-800 rpm up to 1200-1500 rpm. When I am driving, the rpm will fluctuate 200-300 rpm almost constantly. When I slow down, you can feel the transmission down shifting kind of hard.

I have ran two bottles of fuel injector cleaner through the fuel tank and I have no check engine light.

Any help would be appreciated. Jeff

Kind of sounds like a vacuum leak. Try pinching off various vacuum hoses. You can also use a squirt bottle to spray water around hoses and gaskets. The rpm will drop when water momentarily blocks the leak.

I also have a 2002 Dodge Ram with 105K that is doing the exact same thing your 2002 is doing. If you have any luck on curring the problem please pass it on and I will do likewise.
Thanks Gregg
