Hello
Thanks for the donation.

What color is the smoke?
Blue-ish smoke indicates oil being burned by leaking oil into the cylinder heads. The oil is being burned along with the gas causing the blue smoke. Need to have the valve guides, cylinder heads and rings checked if this is the case.

Grey smoke indicates too much fuel being introduced into the engine. This could be caused by coolant temperature sensor along with many other components.

White smoke indicates coolant being burned by leaking into the combustion chambers. If this is the case, you should have low coolant in the resevoir. Cracked head gasket is usually the reasoning for this.

Run a diagnostic test on your vehicle with a scanning tool or go to a local auto part store to have it done for free. This should give you a better indication of what the problem may be.

Post the codes that you get and I will follow up.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using 2carpros. Com!

P0216. Injector/Injection Timing Control Circuit

This usually indicates a faulty injection pump. You should also test fuel flow from lift pump. It sounds like the pump is giving engine too much fuel, not allowing the spark plugs to ignite the fuel, then the fuel is simply burnt throughout the exhaust and turns into the smoke you see at exhaust end.

I had the test done & code said P0216. At idle it burned light white smoke, but when you gas it, it turns darker & sounds like its missing real bad.
