2000 Dodge Ram cruise control and speedometer relations

i have been told that the speedometer cable is linked with the cruise control somehow im not sure. both my speedometer and cruise control went out abround the same time. Could the have the same problem and how can i fix it

Is your check engine light on? May be the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) Usually mounted near the output shaft on the tranny. This has an electronic instrument cluster, PCM controls the readouts, including speedometer thru sensor input. You will have to have the codes read to determine your next step...

To answer your PM:No cable for speedometer! All done with modules and sensors...it's either going to be the VSS or the instrument cluster...get the codes read, Autozone does it free...
