My Dodge pickup dies on me when I put the engine into gear. The engine idle drops so low the engine kills. I can keep it running with my foot on the gas, but anytime I come to a stop sign it dies again. I don't know if extreme outdoor temperatures would have caused the problem or not. It has been -20 degrees the past few days. The engine started doing this on the first extremely cold day (-20). Coincidence? I hope you can help me.

Chances are the temp is the cause. There is a temp sensor that tells the computer how cold it is outside. IF it isn't working properly, the computer could be making the air fuel mixture too rich or lean.

HAs the check engine light come on?
