Electrical problem
1996 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 190k miles

My key gets stuck in my ignition, and the truck won't start. The key shoot feels loose when I trun it like nothing is catching. When I tilt my steering, the key will come out after a little wiggling. All of my dash lights, radio, heat exc...will come on also.
I'm pretty sure I need to replace the ignition switch. In doing so, I need a little expert advice if possible.
Do I need to take off the steering wheel to replace the switch? If so, do I need a special tool to take off the steering wheel?
...any help, suggestions, warnings would be awesome...thankx in advance.

Yes the steering wheel needs removed. Also, you will need a puller to get it off. As far as warnings, make sure to disconnect the battery before working on the steering wheel. I like to let them sit overnight without the batter to be sure there is no accidential airbag deployment.

....sorry bud, but...I DID NOT have to remove the steering wheel on this 1996 dodge ram to replace the ignition switch. Just a tamper-proof star kit needed from O'reilly's and ofcourse the new ignition switch....simple as hell! No puller needed. All is fixed.
