2005 Dodge Neon 68000 miles

I drive a 2005 doge neon with 68000 miles on it. Yesterday I was driving and notice that I needed gas. I fill it about 3/4 full at a well known gas station. When I started it up and drove right out of the gas station the MIL came on. The car was driving ok till today. The light was on and I drove close to 20 miles away from home. A few hours later the light wasn't on and then it came on almost 10 miles after I started driving it. When it came on the time the car started to sputter. I knew it would stall. Sure enough I came to a stop then it stalled. I turn it off, waited a minute then it wouldn't turn over. After a few minutes it started, drove okay, but the MIL was still on. I have about half a tank of gas in it now, but I really want to know what the problem is and how it should be fixed. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME?

I was told to put injector cleaner in my tank. I did that, filled it to full and the light was gone. It is not at half a tank and it came back on. Is it an engine problem or something simple?
