2001 Dodge Neon no reverse

When I put my car in reverse a few days ago to back out of my driveway, I heard a thump and lost reverse completely. The other gears work fine, and with the exception of not being able to back up, the car drives fine. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation, This sounds as if something has failed internally with the reverse band, I would get to a transmission specialist ASAP as any associated metal from the failed component is circulating with in the transmission and this could lead to further problems.
