Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Automatic 114000 miles

i got the car from someone who ran it out of oil. I'm thinking the oil pump and sensor need replaced? Or should I just replace the whole engine for another used one? HELP PLEASE!

Either rent an oil pressure test gauge, or have a shop test it for you, check oil level and make sure it reads full on the stick. Do not continue to drive it. This is a must check situation! Remove the oil sending unit, screw in the gauge, fill to correct level with oil and start engine, note gauge reading. Anytime an engine is run dry, suspect SEVERE engine damage! New or rebuilt motor is probably the way to go.
