I need to know if anyone can tell me what is REALLY wrong with my car. After ive driven the car for about 20 min it starts to hesitate and putts. After a few minutes the check engine light pops on. Once the destination is reached and I put the car in park, it runs for about 2 minutes and then shuts off after it makes a few muffled noises. The next day I will go out and get in the car and it runs ok (check engine light goes off) ? For a while but it eventually does the exact same thing. This has went on for about a week now. I have been told that its the timing chain/tenchor. The fuel pump/fuel filter. I dont know what to do because ive put so much money into fixing this car and continue to have the same problems. I am taking it in to see if its the fuel pump on monday but I wanted to know if you have any suggestions as to what it could be.

Hello,

This sounds like you have a crankshaft angle sensor going out but to start we should scan the car for codes.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Even if the crankshaft sensor is going out it may not set the code. Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when changing the sensor out.

This is what it will be like for your car

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers

I have a 2.7l in my intrepid. And ive had 2 tune-ups one by pepboys and another by the dealership where the plugs were replaced. And the tech also updated the pcm.

So then I did what you said and just replaced the sensor I have not had a problem since. Time will tell. Thanks for your help I will get back to you if I have any more troubles.
