Engine Performance problem
1999 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

My son was driving the car and he notice the oil light was on and there was a knocking sound. He pull over bought some oil tapped up the oil. The car then started but whenever he pull the gear to drive
the car would shut off. He check the oil stick it wasn't totally empty. So he put the amount of oil needed for his type of car tried to start it again why pressing the gas then white smoke emerge. Then when switching to drive car shut off again. He got the car tolled home. Now the car doesn't start at all.

I'm not sure what size motor I will find out.

IS this a 2.7 motor?

This doesn't sound good. My guess is thee is intrnal damage done that is irreversible. Something is causing binding if this is NOT CRANKING. I assume that it is not cranking rather than cranking but not running.

YES, IT'S A 2.7 MOTOR. I keep getting the run around with several mechanics. I don't want the repair bill to be my arm and leg! Do you think you know what the problem may be?
