1998 Dodge Intrepid crazy

I have to leave my 1998 dodge intrepid in the on position for a hour befor it start. While in the on position there is a ticking sound coming from the relay contrlol box and the fuel pump is hummin and the engine light is on. Alsio the red security light in the middle of the dash bord is on also after maybe a hour or so the lights goes off the engine light and the security light and car start can u plz help me. This is killing my battery.

It's possible you have more than one issue going on. But it's hard to say from here.

As for the delayed start, it's possible your fuel pressure regulator is leaking. What the FPR is supposed to do is maintain pressure at the fuel injectors when you cut the car off. This allows your engine to start right up when you turn your key. But if it leaks, then all the fuel goes back to the tank, and when you turn your key, the engine has to wait until the pump gets the fuel back up to the injectors.

However, this shouldn't take an hour. So this leads me to the next possibility.

You may be able to reset your security system by disconnecting the bat for 15 minutes. But if this doesn't work, have your computer scanned for an obvious code. If there's any, get back with me and I'll guide you from there. If there isn't, you'll have to take the car to a dealer
