My 2005 Dodge Durango shut off at the traffic light 2 days ago. At first, we thought it was out of gas so we added gas and it started up but wouldn't stay started. It won't drive more than a few feet without shutting off. Today, a local mechanic thought the problem was with the coils, so he replaced 2 of the coils (even though he originally said that he would replace 4) and still the same problem.

Has he checked fuel pump pressure? If the vehicle is with you, I can provide directions. My concern is this. If you were that low on fuel, it may have picked up dirt from the tank and clogged the fuel filter or damaged the pump. To access the filter, you need to remove the fuel tank, so they usually don't get changed until there is a problem.

Let me know if he did that or if you would like directions. Also, let me know if the check engine light came on while the engine was running.
