I've got a 97 Dakota 318 V8 with about 145000 miles on it. When im driving and when I first start off I have it floored to the ground and when it reaches about 3500 RPM it wont shift and the RPMs steadly go down even tho I have it floored. But when I let off of the gas pedal it has no problem shifting. Could it be a computer problem or whats wrong?

I think you should check the transmission fluid for proper level and that it looks nice and clean. Then if that is ok might want to check your vacume modulator valve if it has one, this causes the truck to shift at the proper speeds usually located on the transmission, on the side.

If this doesn't work try changing the filter and fluid all these things are not costly if done by you.

Also you might have a fuel filter/system issue at the the same time, so might want to check that as well.
