I am going to be replacing the upper and lower ball joints on my 2000 Dodge Dakota. I was reading throug the "online help" guide through autozone. Com/repair. It states that the shock needs to be removed and you must compress the coil spring in order to change these out? Can't you just remove the stearing knuckle and replace them?

Thanks.

Hi:
I strongly recommend you follow the directions. I've seen coil springs shoot across the shop. I think they may have killed someone if they would have been hit.

If your 2000 -2003 dakota has less than 160,000 km on it it has an 10 year extended warrinty for the upper ball joints. I had mine done yesterday.
