Thanks for your help with the no spark. I have repaired that problem(Bad ASD Relay) and now have spark and fuel. However, the motor now has a miss. The miss was intermettent before but it is constant now. I replaced all of the basics, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, filter.
I suspect it is a fuel injector or sticky valve. Does that sound logical? I will accept any guidance on this as it's driving me nuts.

Don't you have a fuel pressure regulator built within the fuel rail-Why do you have to install another regulator?

Well I got rid of the stock fuel pump and I have looked at a couple of different diagrams all showing my fuel press reg mounted with the fuel pump assy, but yes I assumed there was a pressure regulator on my fuel rail, thats why I bought a after market, right now it is installed on my supply line right after my fuel pump and it is not slowing the fuel down at all. I also have a fuel filter installed but its before the pump, im gonna try putting it in front of the pump because thats how the stock one was

If you spliced in and not on a different circuit maybe two pumps are causing too much pressure. Renew original fuel system or run seperate 12 volt key on circuit. Make sure the old pump is not wired at all.
Maybe?

How did your intermittant too high pressure turn out, I still think about your problem. I don't like that Dakota setup but putting an outside unit makes sense but needs the right location, circuit and fuse and the old tank pump has coils for cooling and engineering purposes I guess. It didn't work very good though, lol. See ya locota94

Hi, did you check the applicable fuses with a testlite? Even if the fuse is good, if no voltage on the circuit, the circxuit is dead.

There is a fuse in the power distribution center, another in the regular fuse box, that has to do with ads and fuel pump relays. Fuse D in the power distribution center.

I'd have to check voltage circuit at the fuel pump relay and asd relay. If no voltage when there should be, I'd have to track the circuit.

Stopped running while driving. I replaced the crankshaft sensor, coil and ignition module/camshaft sensor. Switched relays and it did not help and checked the 3 to 1 red wires in the harness, they are good. Not getting power to fuel pump and coil. What am I missing to do?

You said there is no power to coil? That same wire feeds 12 volts to the fuel injectors. If no power when you turn the ignition switch on does the check engine light illuminate on? If it does not recheck your ASD relay. You will also need to check for power and ground at the ECM. If the check engine light comes on, cycle the ignition on, off, on, off, on the check engine light will start to flash codes. So if it flashes one time then pauses and flashes two times that would be a code 12. Try to retrieve codes and let us know what you find.

Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i replaced the fuel pump and the fuel relay switch, at first it primed up and started but lost fuel pressure. I need to know if the tank needs to be air tight.I broke a fitting on top of the tank it looks like its a vent, it runs parallel with the fill tube. I dont know if the tank has to be pressurized to get fuel.I can hear the pump priming up but I got no fuel at the t.B.I. Do I need to some how bleed the line which seems odd to have to bleed it. Please let me know if you can help me thanks. LUCAS

The tank doesn't need to be pressurized. As far as the vent you are refering to, it is an emission problem, but won't prevent the pump from working. Did you replace the fuel filter?

If the check engine light does not illuminate then you need to verify power and ground are good to the pcm.
