At idle my compressor clutch squawls horribly.
I bought a used, low mileage compressor to replace
it and it does the same thing. I have checked connections, voltages, and the inside of the clutch plate. Everything looks normal. I can connect the clutch directly to battery and it doesnt squawl until
i turn on the AC switch. What is going on.

Hi:

Are you sure the AC belt is tight enough? Does the compressor run off a serpentine belt with everything else? If so, maybe the self adjuster is weak. If it is making the same noise as the old one, I feel it is a simple problem that is being over looked. Make sure the belts are clean, dry, tight, and in good condition.

Let me know if this helps. If it doesn't, email me back and I'll move on to step two.

Joe
