I have replaced the fuel pump and filter and still at idle it whistles like EEEEEEEE sound from the fuel pump. As you give the car gas the sounds dies for a second if you are in drive and moving and pulling out the sound goes away and as soon as you back off the gas it returns. Help!!!

Yes it is very loud even inside the car eeeeeeeeeee
is the sound it makes and i've had the caravan for years and I never heard it before. The sound is the same as before I replaced the fuel pump and filter which everyone said it was. I also put in an OEM pump assembly and filter.

There really isn't anything other back there that could make that noise. I question if they installed the pump correctly. It could be touching the tank making the humming louder.

It dosen't make the normal humm sound it makes a whistle sound coming from the regulator on the fuel pump assembly is what it sounds like to me.

Someone else said it could be the air pump but all I know is there is a vaccum pump but not an air pump that i know of

You're correct. No air pump. My only thoughts are there may be a problem with the vent on the tank. Other than that, if you are sure that is where the sound is coming from, something must be wrong with the fuel pump.

If it was the vent wouldn't opening the gas cap relief
the problem?

Is there a vaccum pump that could cause such a problem?

No vacuum pump that I've ever seen in the fuel tank. As far as you comment, it should stop of you open the fuel cap.

I have opened the gas cap and the whistle is still there.

I know there is no vaccum pump in the gas tank it up in the engine.

Some one is telling me that this vaccum pump can cause the problem i have. I want to be sure before i buy another expensive part as i have already wasted alot of money for nothing trying to fix this problem.

Also is there a way to check the vaccum pump?
