How do I fix the evaporator in my van? The ac doesn't work and I need to know how to get to it. I have done all the repairs myself and can not afford for someone else to do this one.

I changed out the evap core in my '94 and all I can tell you is that it involves a major dismantling of the dash.
I'm not familiar with the '98, but the evap core is probably located in the heater box under the dash.
Unless you suspect that it is leaking, there's really no other reason to change it that I know of.
The "cold-making" components are located in the engine bay and should be checked out first.
I.E. The compressor, expansion valve and dryer-seperator are a good place to start.
Good luck.
