Hi:
If the check engine light is on, the computer has storred information about a problem. You need to have the computer scanned for codes. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free, but if the car isn't running, that is a problem. You could check to see if they will rent one, or you can purchase one from the Test Equipment Store site on this page.
